And why do you workout?

I was talking to the 65-year-old gentleman in the gym this week, and he was complaining that he hadn’t been working out very much in the last few weeks. I asked him what he was doing. He mentioned that he was:

  • Hiking
  • Gardening
  • Tree pruning with his son
  • De-mossing his roof
  • Stand-up paddleboarding
  • Basically enjoying summer life.

I told him he works out so he can enjoy those activities. He works out so he can do what he wants when he wants. And that when the summer activities start to slow down, the gym will be here waiting for you. And in the meantime, just get into the gym whenever you can.

He finished the conversation talking about some of his friends that cannot even think about doing what he does in an average day. Think about that.

For most of us, once you pass a certain point in life, it’s not all about the looks anymore. It’s about “beating life” and doing the activities you enjoy whenever you want. Activities like playing with the kids/grandkids, hiking, pickleball, scuba diving, skiing and many more.
